PDC Properties Sdn Bhd (PDCP), a subsidiary of the Penang Development Corporation (PDC), is gearing up to launch a new affordable housing scheme called ‘New Talent Housing’ (Rumah Bakat Baru) in 2025. This initiative is designed to meet the growing demand from young professionals and first-time homebuyers in Penang.
Datuk Aziz Bakar, Chief Executive Officer of PDC, shared that the upcoming scheme will utilize the latest Industrialised Building System (IBS) technology to construct high-quality homes across strategic locations, including Bandar Cassia, Batu Kawan, and Seberang Jaya.
“PDCP is committed to developing high-quality projects at affordable prices through a blend of innovation, convenience, and sustainability. Over the years, PDCP has established a diverse portfolio in Penang, encompassing residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments,” said Datuk Aziz.
A key element driving the evolution and expansion of PDCP’s portfolio is its commitment to understanding and anticipating market demands. Through extensive market research and analysis, PDCP stays ahead by identifying emerging trends and opportunities, allowing it to deliver projects that align with modern lifestyles.
“In response to global shifts in housing demands and lifestyles, PDCP has focused on developing more high-rise properties featuring the latest construction technologies,” Aziz added. He emphasized that PDCP’s dedication to promoting inclusivity and diversity has led to the integration of affordable housing within vibrant townships that offer a range of amenities.
Recently, PDCP has shifted its focus toward making Penang a more livable and dynamic state by advancing innovative and sustainable housing solutions. This includes the development of high-impact projects, such as SMART homes equipped with smart technologies, available at affordable prices. These initiatives cater to Penangites from all walks of life, bridging the gap between affordable and luxury homes.
“By maintaining a balanced approach to Penang’s property prices, PDCP ensures that housing remains affordable for all Penangites, solidifying the state as a premier destination for urban living, talent migration, and investment,” he noted.
Datuk Aziz also highlighted the significant role of PDC in shaping Penang’s property landscape. PDC has been at the forefront of providing various housing schemes for different income groups, ensuring that every Penangite has access to a home.
“PDC's journey as the state's primary property developer began with its initiatives to create new townships in the rapidly growing industrial areas of Bayan Lepas and Seberang Jaya. These efforts not only catered to industrial workers but also supported population growth and migration to these newly developed townships,” he stated.
From low to medium-cost flats to landed housing in townships like Bayan Baru and Seberang Jaya, as well as urban renewal projects in George Town, such as Macallum Street Ghaut and Kedah Road, PDC's housing projects have significantly enhanced the quality of life for Penangites and strengthened the state’s economic foundation through the construction sector.
